First Light Farm is an organic (though not certified) vegetable farm located in the Hāmākua District of Hawaiʻi Island. Scott began farming at the current site in 2012, apprenticing for three years before taking over in 2015 and establishing First Light Farm.
The farm's primary crops are kale, beets, and zucchini, supplemented by a variety of seasonal vegetables. With an emphasis on soil health through careful crop rotations and cover cropping, Scott operates mostly as a one-person farm (with occasional help from his wife and 3 daughters), striving to maximize both productivity and long-term soil fertility.
